Almost ready!

There comes a point before any long trip when you feel like you’re standing on the high dive trying to gather the courage to jump. We’re at that point.
We spent this last weekend foisting off the dogs on family. Belle got to fly to Alamogordo, NM to stay with Pete, Nancy, the kids and (most importantly) “Lucky” – an 8 year old golden retriever.
When we showed up, Lucky and Belle had to go through the ritual trash talking before playing. There was a lot of barking and snarling and then we realized they were just biting the air NEAR each other so we stopped taking them seriously and things quickly calmed down. When we left they were having a great time chasing and wrestling.
Belle seemed to have trouble with the noise level on the plane on the flight over so we tried the headset on her and that seemed to work fine. I may have to spring for an official “doggie headset” or risk unpleasant questions about the dog hair in the ear pieces!
On Sunday, we met up with Mom and Dad and took them to McDonalds for dinner (nothing but the best for my folks!). Grumpy didn’t look nearly as happy as Belle when we shut her in the little cage next to a bunch of Corgis. She tried to inform us that we had obviously made a mistake and put her in a DOG kennel and that’s just not right! Not even the offering of a French fry improved her mood. The latest reports indicate that she is having a blast with the “Covey of Corgis”.
Monday and Tuesday were consumed with final details and instructions for the contractor who’s building the addition on our house. The photo is how it looks now. He tells us that we will be close to doing interior finishing when we return. We are sneaking away just before they rip off the side of our house and render our master bathroom unusable… timing is everything!
Cheers to ya, Mates!
